Hollywood Heroes Have What It Takes!!

Hollywood has overlooked some successful actors of the past that have proven to be the best in the acting field.Allan Hunt and Ron Harper believe in the "old-school" way of show-biz.Allan,from day one of his life always ejoyed anything theatrical ranging from plays, television, and the list goes on.As he grew up,he became a "supreme irony" and intended to do that all of his life. His work,he says,is his heavy. He always knew he was going to be on screen. His first professional gig was in 1959 with CBS on "Peck's Bad Girl" which starred Patty McCormick,a former child actor, and Wendell Corey. He received his AFTRA card later, and also joined SAG,and EQUITY.He is still a member of all three agencies. He made appearences on "The Donna Reed Show","My Three Sons","Dennis The Menace",and many other classics.Later added to the cast of "Voyage" after a year it was on the air in 1964,he worked with another newcomer of an actor, Terry Becker when it was renewed to color, and the first season in "BW".After joining the Marines for two years,he returned to civilian life marching in the Hollywood Christmas Parade in 1966,thanks to a letter for the Hollywood Chamber Of Commerce. After "Voyage" was canceled in 1968,he went to Pasadena City College, and later did some TV shows such as "Sisters",with Margot Kider,"A Different Story",with Perry King,"General Hospital",and "The Young And The Restless".Ron got his first experience in acting in the annual Christmas pageant at the Methodist Church in his hometown,Turtle Creek,PA.Then he did high school productions always playing leading roles. While determined to attend college,he studied hard, and made straight A's,and became the "valedictorian",and got a scholarship to Princeton. He was considering becoming a lawyer, but acted in various plays, and teaching for three seasons of Summer Stock at the Theatre Intime which was at Priceton.Albert Einstein(yes,Albert Einstein), who was teaching at the graduate school, witnessed him in the production,"The Tempest",and talked to him backstage. He encouraged Ron to "further pursue what he enjoyed doing".He cancelled law school and went to New York.Best known for his work in "Planet Of The Apes",they used real actors in "ape" makeup. He has no regrets that he can think of,and neither does Allan.Allan works at Oak Park High School in Thousand Oaks,California as an acting instructor for the past 10 years.Ron and Allan work with new and young people, but stick with the old ways of acting. That's why I call them "heroes".
